Make straight or sponge dough. Put finished dough on a table or a bench sprinkled with flour, cut into pieces and roll them into balls, leave the dough balls to rise for 5-10 minutes. Roll the balls out to circles about 1 cm (0.4″) thickness and put stuffing in the middle of each each circle. Bring the sides of a circle together and pinch them shut, making oval-shaped pirozhki.
Put finished pirozhki seam side down into an oiled baking sheet or skillet 1 1/2 – 2 cm (0.6 – 0.8 in) away from each other and put into a warm place for 15-20 minutes to rise. Brush pirozhki with eggwash and bake in a preheated oven 15-20 minutes.
Take baked pirozhki out of the baking sheet, brush the top with melted butter and cover with clean towel.
