White Bread Babka with Apples

500 g / 1 lb 2 oz apples
1 cup milk
300 g / 11 oz white bread
1 egg
3/4 cup sugar
3 tbsp butter
lemon peel or orange peel from 1 fruit

Remove crust from white bread loaf, thinly slice it and partially dice it and dry it. Mix and whip milk, raw egg, and 2 tbsp of sugar.
Peel and pit apples, dice them and pour over with sugar. Grease mold or skillet with a thick layer of butter. Moisten slices of white bread with whipped egg paste and lay them on the bottom and the sides of skillet or mold. Pour dried bread dices over with butter and mix with apples. Also add some grated lemon peel or vanilla. Put apples mixed with bread dices in the middle of the mold, filling it up to the top. Cover the mold with bread slices that have been moistened with whipped egg paste, and put the mold in medium-hot oven for 40-50 minutes.
Once it is ready, leave babka in the mold for 10 minutes, then put it on a plate. If desired, decorate with canned fruit and pour over with fruit sauce. Serve babka hot.
