Siberian Pelmeni (Dumplings)


1 1/2 cup wheat flour
300-400 g / 11-14 oz meat (half beef, half pork)
1 egg
1 onion
1/4 cup sour cream or 1-2 tbsp butter

Prepared quality pelmeni are always available to purchase in stores.

Purchased or home-made pelmeni (see pelmeni recipe) are submerged into boiling salted water and cooked for 5-6 minutes. Remove pelmeni, put them on a plate, pour over with butter or sour cream and serve right away.

Many people prefer pelmeni Siberian-style, poring them over with hot sauce (mustard mixed with vinegar, especially grape).

Fried pelmeni are very tasty: purchased or home-made pelmeni should be boiled in salted water (in this case only cook for 2-3 minutes). Remove pelmeni and fry them on a skillet on both sides.
