Vatrushki from Yeast Dough

Divide prepared dough into small pieces, roll them into little balls, lay them out on a baking sheet greased with butter, leaving 2 – 3 cm / 0.8 – 1.2 in of space in between and put in warm place. When dough rises, make a cavity in each one with a bottom of a shot glass and fill it with farmers cheese stuffing. Moisten vatrushki with egg and put in hot oven for 10-15 minutes.

Stuffing for vatrushki can be made from fresh berries, jams or preserve. Put fresh berries  – strawberries, wild strawberries, raspberries – into the cavity in the dough, sprinkle with sugar and moisten edges of the dough with whipped egg.
